June 22, 2010
IBM is jumping on the Google Android bandwagon by delivering a beta-version of their collaboration suite to Google’s increasingly popular mobile OS. IBM sees a trend towards mobile computing and mobile workers and is jumping on it. Read on for the details…
Lotus Notes customers can currently download Lotus Notes Traveler for Android — free — and it’ll provide a two-way over-the-air sync between all the information on Lotus Domino and other mobile devices.
IBM Domino — the sever side of IBM’s Lotus Notes suite — includes Mail, Calendar and Contacts, which is now all accessible on the go, so long as your Android device is version 2.0 or above. What’s more, IBM is saying that IBM Lotus Connections social software is coming to the Android platform soon, too.
IBM’s Lotus Traveler has already been on many other devices like Nokia Symbian, Windows Mobile, iPhone and iPad, but IBM cites that 100,000 Android phones get activated each day, and felt it was important to support the growing market.
IBM has also released a little video about the new Android support for your enjoyment.
