Even as more remote monitoring and management platform providers add support for Apple OSX and iOS to their offerings, there are other players in the space that are starting to court MSPs, too. Take, for example, JAMF Software, a company that offers the Casper Suite, a management platform for Mac and iOS. This is the same JAMF Software which today announced deal with distributor Tech Data (NASDAQ:TECD) to distribute its software. But here’s what JAMF Software is doing with MSPs.JAMF Software does offer a special section just for MSPs on its web site and is offering a podcast from there that defines managed services, talks about the difference in business models from resellers to MSPs and interviews the founder of MSP 100 company and Apple support specialist Forget Computers, Ben Greiner, who uses the Casper Suite in his Chicago-based company. MSPmentor last wrote about Forget Computers and the podcast in 2010.
In the podcast, Greiner talks about making the switch from a break/fix model to a managed services model to support his Apple-using clients, the bumps in transitioning clients, the troubles with supporting mobile devices when they weren’t always tethered to the network, and his company’s eventual transition to the JAMF Software Casper Suite.
The podcast takes a basic overview of what it takes to transition from a reseller to an MSP.
JAMF Software also recently published a guide to integrating its Casper Suite and the Apple Configurator software from Apple.
I’ve got a sense that we will be hearing more from JAMF Software in the weeks ahead. MSPmentor will be on the trail and providing updates.
