Linux Foundation Self-Paced Course Expands Open Source Cloud Training
The Linux Foundation's new self-paced OpenStack administration training program provides another online training option and path to certification for open source cloud administration expertise.
The Linux Foundation says it is making it easier for more people to gain expertise in OpenStack-based open source cloud computing through its self-paced "OpenStack Administration Fundamentals" course, which is now open for enrollment.
The course is based on "Essentials of OpenStack Administration," another course that the Linux Foundation already offers. The major selling point for the new class is that students take it at their own pace, with the ability to complete required labs at the time of their choosing.
"Students benefit from having access to a unique ‘labs on demand’ environment, which enables them to work on live OpenStack systems that are provisioned (and can be reset) on demand," the Linux Foundation said in a statement regarding the new offering.
The course may be completed at any time within a one-year period. It's also entirely online, which allows access to anyone with an Internet connection.
OpenStack leaders are happy about the expanded training options for people who want to pursue work in the open source cloud. "Training is a key initiative for the OpenStack community, and a growing ecosystem of training providers is helping equip professionals with the skills they need to help enterprises and service providers succeed with OpenStack," said Jonathan Bryce, executive director of The OpenStack Foundation. "The Linux Foundation is playing an important part in that effort, and we look forward to their expanding role as the Certified OpenStack Administrator certification launches."
The new course is open for enrollment through January 19. Registration costs $499 and can be bundled with the Linux Foundation's "Certified OpenStack Administrator" exam, which provides certification in OpenStack training.
