Memo to IT Nation: Get Off the Grid (and Into the Pool)
Ferris Bueller took his day off. Bluto had his food fight. And soon, as many as 1,400 geeks, VARs and MSPs may have their chance to dump a truckload of fizzies into a conference pool. Somewhere within the crowd, ConnectWise CEO Arnie Bellini will be smiling. Here's why.

Here’s why.First, the background: Roughly 1,400 people are expected to attend the ConnectWise IT Nation conference (Nov. 4-6, Orlando, Fla.). That figure includes 1,100 VARs, MSPs and IT service providers, according to Jeannine Edwards, director of the ConnectWise Community. Several other groups and vendors will also host satellite events at the conference (stay tuned for a complete list).
Off-The-Grid-Board
No doubt, ConnectWise wants to educate partners about sales, marketing, HR and vertical market tactics during the Orlando-based conference. And sure, they’ll be room for PSA (professional services automation) software talk. But CEO Arnie Bellini sounds like he’s planning a few surprises for the event’s closing party — aptly titled “Off the Grid.” Stealing a page from Las Vegas, the party invite says “what happens off the grid… stays off the grid.”Hmmm… Alligators in the pool? Jello shots with Minnie Mouse? For now The VAR Guy can only guess what’s in store for IT Nation attendees. And once the party arrives it sounds like our resident blogger will need to turn off his smartphone and log off his Twitter account… at least for a little while.
