Opengear, which develops self-professed “next-generation” console server and KVM over IP solutions, now integrates with SolarWinds Orion Network Performance Monitor. The duo hope to give managed services providers centralized remote management of distributed computer, network, and smart devices. Here’s the scoop.

With this integration, SolarWinds customers can use Opengear to keep an eye on network devices, power equipment, and environmental conditions at remote sites — and by using the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNNP) to handle communications between Orion and Opengear, the two companies claim.

SolarWinds caught our eye roughly a year ago for being one of the few high-tech IPOs to gain traction in recent years. Fast forward to the present and the company’s stock is on a bit of a downswing.
