Pointivity Becomes Master MSP, Master SaaS Provider
Pointivity is the latest Web host and managed service provider to begin hosting services for other VARs and MSPs. The strategy involves a partner program for hosted Microsoft Exchange, SharePoint, Dynamics, Blackberry services, Global Relay email archiving and dedicated servers.
Here are some quick details, along with another trend: Rise of the Master SaaS Provider.
Channel partners that leverage Pointivity’s private label storefront can re-brand Pointivity’s services as their own. Details about the strategy are available at www.pointivity.com/partners.
Dawn of the Master SaaS Provider
Founded in 1991, Pointivity is a well-known Web hosting company. The company’s decision to host managed services for other MSPs and VARs — a strategy known as Master MSP — is hardly unique. Roughly 20 percent of MSPs now offer hosted services to peer MSPs and VARs, according to our current MSPmentor 100 survey, which ends December 12.
Increasingly, Master MSPs also are striving to become Master SaaS Providers — companies that host applications for other VARs and MSPs. I first heard the term Master SaaS Provider while speaking with Tim Dickinson, country manager for Kaseya Australia and New Zealand.
While speaking about the Master MSP trend, our conversation shifted to software as a service. Dickenson tossed out the Master SaaS Provider term, and I latched onto it.
