Red Hat (RHT) has broadened the deployment options for its integrated data analysis and business intelligence platform with the announcement that Red Hat Enterprise Linux for SAP HANA can now run across a variety of public cloud providers that Red Hat has certified, as well as on new hardware configurations.
The company announced the news Monday. It pitched the move as a way to provide customers "with an extensive choice of deployment options for big data applications" supported by the RHEL for SAP HANA platform, which Red Hat and SAP introduced last June.
In addition to new compatibility with certified public cloud platforms, Red Hat's integrated business intelligence software now also features support for hardware setups from Hitachi Data Systems, a provider of Big Data hardware solutions. The company also says that other hardware partners, including Dell, Fujitsu, and IBM, "now offer both scale-out as well as scale-up solutions" for RHEL for SAP HANA.
"By extending Red Hat Enterprise Linux for SAP HANA to the public cloud, we are providing a stable, secure and reliable platform for deployments of SAP HANA across the breadth of the open hybrid cloud," said Jim Totton, vice president and general manager, Platforms Business Unit, Red Hat. "These cloud-based offerings, combined with additional certified providers and configurations of hardware for SAP HANA as well as the scale-up and scale-out certifications of our launch partners, deliver a set of solutions to help meet the growing enterprise demand for big data applications, all standardized on the world’s leading enterprise Linux platform."
