Irvine, California-based high availability (HA) and DR solutions provider Vision Solutions has updated two of its products to keep pace in the rapidly expanding cloud-based backup and disaster recovery (BDR) market.

Vision Solutions said the new releases, MIMIX 8.0 and Double-Take 7.1, were designed with managed service providers (MSPs) and their customers in mind.

MIMIX 8.0 allows users to manage and monitor the availability of multiple IBM Power Systems running IBM i, while Double-Take 7.1 offers workload protection and mobility across cloud, physical and virtual environments, according to Vision Solutions.

“Our disaster recovery solutions allow companies to benefit from increased operational efficiency in the cloud while remaining confident that their information and applications are protected and available — across any environment,” Alan Arnold, Vision Solutions’ chief technology officer, said in a prepared statement.

Vision Solutions targets the cloud

Vision Solutions is ready to make additional cloud investments, which is reflected in its new product releases.

MIMIX 8.0 and Double-Take 7.1 are flexible solutions that can protect and recover applications and data across any hardware, operating system, platform or storage, Vision Solutions said.

Both solutions also feature metered usage billing options with subscription-based licensing models for MSPs that are designed to “remove barriers for mid-market companies seeking DR services.”

Recent data, meanwhile, indicates the demand for cloud-based DR solutions is increasing globally, and Vision Solutions could capitalize on this expanding market.

A Sept. 2014 Reportlinker.com report showed even a minute of downtime can cost organizations thousands of dollars, and as a result, cloud-based DR solutions are quickly becoming viable options for both MSPs and their customers.

“Cloud-based disaster recovery solutions come at an affordable price point with easy implementation,” Reportlinker.com researchers said. “Companies are opting for cloud-based DR rather than on-premise recovery. This is one among the emerging cloud-based technologies which is catching pace in recent times.”
