Since 2013, the Channel Partners 360° Business Value Awards have been recognizing excellence in the channel. Winners are not cited for being the biggest, the best, the most, the first or any other typical superlative. Channel Partners 360° honors innovation, solutions-orientation and customer focus. Awards are presented to partners – agents, VARs, dealers, systems integrators, MSPs, solutions providers and consultants – of all sizes for creating business value for their customers with converged telecom and IT solutions.

Among the 2015 winners was Brown Pear Solutions, a woman- and minority-owned VAR of data center hardware, software and managed services. Serving SMBs and enterprises across the U.S. and Canada in several vertical markets, the Brown Pear team assists customers with reducing IT capital and operating expenses.

Founded in 2010, Brown Pear offers cloud services, consolidation, virtualization, networking security, archiving, managed services, storage and productivity solutions.

Brown Pear was a 2015 honoree for its work with Callison LLC, an architectural and design firm. The company had large CAD/CAM files and had outgrown their storage infrastructure. They also had an outdated network and were having a hard time keeping up with day-to-day demands. In addition, a downsizing had reduced the size of the IT staff, making it necessary for the remaining members to spend most of their time putting out fires, rather than fixing underlying problems or planning for the future.

Callison needed unbiased consultation services for upgrading its infrastructure, as well as the necessary technical skills for implementing the new solutions. The new IT environment needed to be scalable, reliable, secure and able to support data, document and drawing storage, as well as sharing across a global enterprise.

Brown Pear installed a new storage area network (SAN). The team deployed server blades, set up and configured replication of 10GB links from the blades to the SAN, implemented virtualization and software for network security and more.

Brown Pear’s solution reduced Callison’s energy costs, management costs and time to deploy, and improved productivity by 60 percent. The company now has worldwide secure access to its document and image archive and peace of mind as a result of built-in redundancy. In addition, the IT staff can now devote more time to driving business innovation instead of maintaining and supporting platforms and tools.
