Dell Technologies Set to Cut Jobs Post EMC Buy
Up to 3,000 employees, most in the U.S., will be let go in the Dell-EMC merger.

As many as 3,000 mostly U.S.-based employees of the new Dell Technologies will soon be out of work.
Wednesday’s celebratory mood following the closing of the $60 billion merger with EMC Corp. is more somber today, for between 2,000 and 3,000 company employees are caught in the layoffs, as reported by Bloomberg — no specifics are available. The combined Dell-EMC company employee count is about 140,000, of which about 9,000 employees worked for EMC in Massachusetts.
The job cuts are expected to impact areas such as supply chain as well as general and administrative positions, and marketing, according to sources.{ad}
Earlier this year, EMC had plans to cut company costs by $850 million in a restructuring plan. The plans included layoffs.
