EarthLink Opens Chicago Cloud Data Center
The Chicago facility is the third of five planned next-generation cloud data centers.

As part of its nationwide IT services and data center network expansion, EarthLink Inc. announced the opening of a data center and sales office in Chicago.
The Chicago facility, located at located at 350 E. Cermak Road, is the one of five new and planned data centers using the company’s next-generation cloud hosting platform. EarthLink opened a similar facility in Dallas last month and plans to open facilities in San Jose, Calif., and Miami in the coming months. These four new data centers are in addition to an existing one in Pittsford, N.Y. EarthLink also operates data centers in Atlanta; Columbia, S.C.; and Marlborough, Mass.
All of the data centers will be linked via EarthLink’s nationwide IP network. The company operates a network spanning 29,421 route fiber miles with 90 metro fiber rings.
EarthLink also opened a new Chicago sales office and is hiring employees to sell IT solutions, including cloud hosting, Cloud Workspace, managed security, colocation, cloud server backup and application solutions in the Chicago metro area.
EarthLink will introduce the new data center to Chicago businesses Friday during a seminar at Wrigley Field. Industry experts from Cisco and NetApp will join EarthLink for this informational event, which also will include a VIP tour of Wrigley and the Chicago Cubs game in a private suite.
