Lumen Technologies has unveiled its new Data Access Accelerator managed service to help businesses access data residing anywhere in the world.

Data Access Accelerator, which runs on the Lumen platform, allows for unstructured, file-based data to be acquired and processed from different locations. Businesses can improve productivity with near real-time file access regardless of location. They’ll spend less time moving files, and devote more time to gaining insight from their data.

Data Access Accelerator is available to Lumen partners to sell.

“This service provides another opportunity to help our mutual customers manage their growing amount of data,” he said. “The way organizations access file-based data today slows their time to value on that data because typical network transfers on large files take a long time. Operating on geographically dispersed files is often not feasible due to latency concerns. So organizations will make multiple copies of that data to move it closer to compute, increasing costs and risk, and complicating governance. Lumen Data Access Accelerator helps organizations avoid these problems.”

Data Access Accelerator’s adaptable infrastructure can adjust to changing business needs. That minimizes reliance on IT to build new infrastructure for data storage and transfer, the company said.

The service also maximizes competitiveness by obtaining value from data faster than those who struggle with data replication, Lumen said.

Monetizing Data a Must

“While COVID-19 has certainly changed the way that businesses operate, any digital business must excel at monetizing data to support their customers, suppliers, partners and stakeholders, and to deliver innovative products and services,” Gee said. “COVID-19 has not changed that. To become increasingly data-driven, companies need to get proficient at acquiring data from all sources, analyzing data for actionable insights, and acting on data to improve products and services.”

Lumen partners have an even more expansive portfolio of solutions spanning networking, edge cloud, security, and communication and collaboration to help customers achieve their business goals, he said.

“With Lumen Data Access Accelerator, our partners can help customers create operational efficiencies, and enhance user experiences and productivity by simplifying workflows to allow them to access and execute on data from anywhere in the world as if it were local,” Gee said.

Lumen rebranded from CenturyLink earlier this fall.
