New Avnet Services Help Partners Sell HPE Composable Infrastructure

As a trimmer and more agile Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) continues to position its Synergy for Composable Infrastructure at the forefront of its strategic journey, distribution partner Avnet this week introduced a services portfolio to help channel partners succeed in selling and implementing composable infrastructure.

In conjunction with HPE Discover 2016, held this week in Las Vegas, Avnet announced resources, such as technical experts, new open-source development tools and software platforms to help partners automate HPE Synergy for customers operating in DevOps and Agile development environments. The new offerings target North American and Canadian partners.

“The HPE Synergy solution, combined with services from Avnet and our partners, opens exciting new ways for partners to provide value to the customer, and ultimately, their users,” Greg Peterson, vice president of Avnet’s HPE solutions business in the Americas, told Channel Partners. “By having capabilities in these areas, it increases partners’ abilities to become involved with their customers on the strategic direction of IT, creates a way to rapidly provision infrastructure for their customers and allows for continuous deployment,” he added.

According to Avnet, the resources, tools and services that it’s making available address hybrid cloud automation, data-center migration, technical support and training. The distributor also noted that partners would have access to its vast library of connectors for HPE Operations Orchestration and HPE Cloud Service Automation.{ad}

A relatively new concept, composable infrastructure has been referred to as infrastructure as code, and also infrastructure as a service, where infrastructure is provisioned on an as needed basis.

Designed to increase IT efficiency and accelerate service delivery, while bridging traditional and new styles of computing, HPE noted three core components of composable infrastructure: fluid resource pools that work across physical, virtual and container environments; software-defined intelligence; and a unified API across compute, network and storage.

“This market space also holds potential for partners that are looking to increase their cloud practices; software-focused partners who want to gain deeper traction into their customers’ digital transformation projects such as software-defined data centers; and partners who want to leverage their success in selling servers, storage and networking solutions to enterprise and midmarket customers,” he said.

In a related announcement, HPE this week introduced HPE OneView 3.0 to provide software-defined intelligence across the company’s family of infrastructure solutions including HPE ProLiant, HPE BladeSystem, HPE 3Par StoreServ, HPE Hyper Converged solutions, and HPE Synergy, composable infrastructure. Product availability is scheduled for Q3, according to the vendor.
