Juniper Networks is starting off the new year with a new channel chief. The vendor on Friday named Gordon Mackintosh as vice president of worldwide channel and virtual sales.

Mackintosh will be responsible for Juniper’s go-to-market strategy for partners with the goal of delivering greater business outcomes. Most recently he was vice president, worldwide channels at Extreme Networks, before ending his four-year tenure at the end of 2019. Prior to that he worked at Cisco for eight years.

“Juniper Networks has a great reputation in the partner community with its strong technology and solutions in AI-driven enterprise, multicloud networking and connected security solutions. I couldn’t be more honored to lead Juniper’s global partner organization into the future,” said Mackintosh. “The opportunity ahead for Juniper and its partners is vast, but to seize it, we must collaborate more effectively and move faster. Partners continue to be an integral part of Juniper’s growth strategy in all segments and I’m truly excited to join the team to continue to create innovative strategies that help partners accelerate their business into the multicloud era.”

Juniper had an eventful 2019, most recently with the acquisition, in April, of Mist Systems. The vendor also had some high-level departures on its channel team, most notably, Brian Rosenberg, corporate vice president, worldwide channels, who left Juniper in June, after working at the company for seven years. Christian Alvarez, whose last position at Juniper was worldwide head of channels and distribution, left the company in September after working there for four years.

Rosenberg is pursuing a master’s degree in conflict and dispute resolution, according to his LinkedIn account, and Alvarez took a job with Nutanix as vice president Americas Channel & Distribution.

“We’re thrilled to have Gordon lead Juniper’s global partner sales,” said Marcus Jewell, Juniper Networks’ executive vice president and chief sales officer. “Gordon has had proven success in leading innovative and high-performing teams, establishing a culture of collaboration, developing people and, most importantly, prioritizing and strengthening the incredible relationships with our partners.”

Another newcomer at Juniper is Raj Yavatkar, chief technology officer, who is responsible for heading Juniper’s technology strategy and executing several of its critical future-focused technologies. Yavatkar joined the company in December.
