Coming down the stretch of its first year, Hitachi Vantara, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi Ltd. that formed last September, on Tuesday announced that it’s set to acquire Rean Cloud, a global cloud systems integrator, managed service provider, and solutions developer of cloud-native applications across big data, machine learning (ML) and the internet of things (IoT). Real Cloud also is an AWS premier consulting partner and silver Microsoft Azure partner.

Hitachi Vantara’s goal in acquiring the relatively young firm – Rean Cloud was founded in 2013 – is to reinforce Hitachi Vantara’s ability to accelerate secure enterprise cloud adoption across multicloud environments and strengthen its ability to manage and operate traditional applications as well as emerging workloads in artificial intelligence (AI) and ML.

“Our global customers across the Hitachi ecosystem are driving their own digital transformations to create competitive advantages in the marketplace,” said Brian Householder, chief executive officer of Hitachi Vantara. “Modernized infrastructure – running both on and off premises – and intelligent data governance and analytics are the foundational pillars of digital transformations and Rean Cloud powerfully extends Hitachi’s existing portfolio for customers and partners in these areas.”

Hitachi Vantara also noted that it’s on the same page as Rean Cloud when it comes to creating leading-edge solutions and that it will leverage Rean’s expertise to speed delivery of transformative digital solutions for its combined customers and partners.

Rean Cloud headquarters are in Herndon, Virginia, and the company has seven offices across the U.S., as well as four in India. Once the acquisition closes, Rean Cloud’s founders, Sekhar Puli and Sri Vassireddy, will continue to lead and grow the business as an integral part of Hitachi Vantara’s Solutions and Services organization, led by Bobby Soni, chief solutions and services officer with Hitachi Vantara. Rean Cloud’s existing customers will continue to receive services through Rean Cloud’s existing workforce, enhanced by Hitachi Vantara’s global delivery capabilities and digital solutions.

Soni wrote in a blog that Hitachi Vantara plans to integrate Rean Cloud into its road map and offer its partners and customers a secure an unified multicloud platform. Soni also noted that Rean Cloud employees will be a powerful addition to his company.

“They are highly talented, passionate about cloud and big-data engineering, and are clearly at the top of their fields. Data scientists, DevOps engineers, big-data consultants, cloud architects, AppDev engineers, and many more — all of them smart and collaborative,” he said.

For the past two years, Rean Cloud has been recognized in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for public-cloud infrastructure managed service providers, worldwide. Just a year ago, the company acquired 47Lining, an AWS advanced consulting partner and specialist in big data.

Hitachi Vantara’s purchase of Rean Cloud is expected to wrap later this year, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals. Financial terms of the deal were not revealed.
