Consolidation continues in the managed services software market. The latest example involves GFI Software acquiring Sunbelt Software’s VIPRE security software. GFI plans to merge VIPRE technology into GFI’s email security and web security solutions group. Here’s why MSPs should care.

GFI Software already offers GFI Max Remote Management software for MSPs. It’s safe to expect GFI to connect the dots between its remote management and web security offerings. According to a prepared statement from GFI CEO Walter Scott:

“We see this investment in Sunbelt and its VIPRE technology as an excellent opportunity to increase our install base, drive the software globally through our international partner channel and also build our consumer market, which has a powerful drag-along effect on the SME and SoHo markets.”

I’m poking around Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference 2010 (WPC10) for more reaction to the deal.
