PC Connection Purchases Softmart

IT solutions provider PC Connection (PCCC) has purchased global IT service solutions supplier Softmart for an undisclosed sum, as the company looks to expand its current lineup of products and services to customers in the United States.

Softmart, which currently has 200 employees, will continue to sell services under its original name and will keep its corporate headquarters in Philadelphia, according to the announcement. However, Founder and Chairman Richard Sloane announced he is leaving the company “to pursue other interests.”

PC Connections President and CEO Timothy McGrath said the acquisition will enable his company to develop a deeper relationships with Microsoft (MSFT).

“Richard Sloane and his team built a very successful company over the years by focusing on customer service and effective management of IT resources,” said McGrath. “Through this acquisition, PC Connection is enhancing its service and solutions capabilities, including our cloud services, and strengthening our position with Microsoft as a tier-1, direct Cloud Solution Provider (CSP).”

In other recent acquisition news, Canadian IT service provider F12.Net Inc. announced its purchase of managed service provider XCEL Professional Services Inc. earlier this month.
