PGi Acquires Cloud-based Project Management Platform

PGi (PGI) has added Central Desktop, a cloud-based team collaboration and project management platform for businesses, to its portfolio.

PGi (PGI) has added Central Desktop, a cloud-based team collaboration and project management platform for businesses, to its portfolio.

Atlanta-based web conferencing software company PGi (PGI) has added Central Desktop, which provides a cloud-based team collaboration and project management platform for businesses, to its portfolio. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The Central Desktop platform allows businesses to centralize their communications and make data available to freelancers, independent contractors and other remote workers worldwide via the cloud.

PGi noted Central Desktop leverages SocialBridge, a collaboration platform that is designed for creative agencies and marketers, to connect people and information in the cloud and foster real-time collaboration.

Boland T. Jones, PGi’s CEO, said he believes the Central Desktop acquisition will allow his company to better support today’s increasingly mobile workforce.

“The acquisition of Central Desktop extends PGi’s collaboration expertise beyond real-time meetings, creating a truly unified collaboration platform for how business works today,” Jones said in a prepared statement.

Why did PGi acquire Central Desktop?

International Data Corp (IDC) recently predicted the collaborative applications market would expand at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of nearly 9 percent from 2013 to 2018, and the Central Desktop acquisition could help PGi capitalize on this growing market.

“PGi’s vision is one of unified collaboration, a single platform where modern business collaboration tools — real-time meetings, audio conferencing, video and web conferencing, team workspaces, file and screen sharing and project tracking — all live together,” a PGi spokesperson told Talkin’ Cloud. “The acquisition of Central Desktop is a vital step towards delivering that vision to the market, as it provides PGi with an industry-leading asynchronous collaboration platform that will become a key part of our unified collaboration platform.”

Central Desktop has a current projected annual revenue run rate of approximately $9 million, according to PGi.
