Pivotal Acquires CloudCredo to Boost Cloud Foundry Expertise

Cloud platform developer Pivotal has acquired CloudCredo, a London-based Cloud Foundry deployment and services provider, as the company looks to drive adoption of Pivotal Cloud Foundry.

Through the acquisition, which was announced on Monday, Pivotal will also take ownership of stayUp, a log analysis technology company for Cloud Foundry and a subsidiary of CloudCredo, according to the announcement.  The company plans to utilize the Cloud Foundry experts at CloudCredo to boost interest in its own platform.

“CloudCredo enhances Pivotal’s powerful next-generation portfolio of products and services by bringing extensive knowledge of deploying, running and customizing Cloud Foundry for some of the world’s largest and most admired brands,” said Rob Mee, CEO of Pivotal, in a statement. “With this expertise, we can better help our customers transform their enterprises by embracing and leveraging Pivotal’s Cloud Native platform more quickly.”

CloudCredo will continue to operate in London following the close of the acquisition, and will continue to service its existing customers, according to the announcement. Going forward, the company’s mission will be to continue driving Pivotal Cloud Foundry growth in new international markets.

No financial details of the acquisition have been disclosed.

Pivotal is jointly owned by EMC (now part of Dell) as well as VMware and General Electric, making it part in parcel to the recent $67 billion acquisition. It remains to be seen, however, if Dell has larger plans for Pivotal or if it will allow the company to go public. While Michael Dell commented briefly on the opportunities ahead for Dell in the wake of the purchase, he was not specific as to how or if Pivotal would play a part in the company going forward.
