Upstack, the cloud and internet infrastructure selling agent and sourcing platform, continues its M&A spree with two consulting firm acquisitions.

Upstack has acquired Legacy Solutions, a telecommunications consulting firm specializing in forensic telecom expense audits and vendor management. It’s also acquired Open Communications, an IT consulting firm specializing in network, CCaaS and UCaaS for businesses of all sizes, from SMB to enterprise.

Upstack isn’t saying how much it’s paying for the companies.

Earlier this month, Upstack announced two new agent acquisitions, MOC4 Consulting and Idea Communications Group.

Making the Most of Equity Investment

The acquisitions are part of Upstack’s strategy to accelerate the growth of its platform. It combines internet infrastructure advisors with software and support resources.

Upstack’s growth strategy is supported by a $50 million equity investment from Berkshire Partners, announced in April. It’s allowing the company to grow its platform through technology expansion and partner acquisitions.

Nick Caruso is Upstack’s head of global channels and alliances.

“We’re always looking to expand the capabilities of the Upstack platform and further maximize the value that we’re able to provide to our SMB and enterprise customers,” he said. “The power of the Upstack advisers is a combination of real-world experience and complementary expertise. Both Legacy Solutions and Open Communications help Upstack expand that expertise in areas like forensic telecom audits, unified communications and contact center.”

Upstack can architect and source any technology solution a client might need no matter their business challenges, Caruso said.

“The cross-sell and upsell opportunities in the Upstack ecosystem are a tremendous value to our advisers and their customers, who are looking to leverage industry expertise for evolving services like cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, SaaS, IoT, artificial intelligence/machine learning, (AI/ML), 5G LTE, etc.,” he said.

Upstack continues to engage with the top agents as it continues to expand its platform, Caruso said.

Legacy Solutions, Open Communications Leaders Joining Upstack

Legacy Solutions co-founders Michael Sanders and Lauren Sanders, a father-daughter team, will join Upstack as partners and equity stakeholders. They will also serve as advisers to business customers that are sourcing data center, colocation, cloud, network connectivity and other technology solutions through the Upstack platform.

“Upstack’s philosophy resonated with me; they want to grow together and share success with their advisers,” said Michael Sanders. “They were also excited to welcome Lauren into the team to support my succession plan.”

In addition, Open Communications founder Amanda Heinritz will join Upstack as a partner and a equity stakeholder. She will also serve as an adviser to business customers.

“Upstack not only had a clear understanding of what my business is and how much it’s worth, but provided a game-changing technology platform that literally cuts out five steps of our sales process, saving my team tons of time,” Heinritz said.
