VMware (VMW) has acquired user environment management solution provider Immidio for an undisclosed sum, the company announced during its annual Partner Exchange event in San Francisco.
Immidio’s solutions will be integrated into VMware’s Horizon portfolio, which will allow users to offer User Environment Management solutions to their customers, according to the announcement. VMware noted Immidio’s solutions are a good fit, thanks for their simplicity and rich feature set.
“Customers are looking for a Workspace Environment Management solution that can enable them to dynamically provision end-user workspaces with users’ applications, settings and persona, based on IT defined policies,” said VMware, in a blog post. “This will enable IT to shift their time and manage service levels for end-users rather than day-to-day device support and operations.”
The UEM solution provides a consistent desktop experience for all operating systems, devices and locations, which allows customers to migrate their information easily between desktops, laptops and mobile devices, according to the company.
VMware said the acquisition is expected to strengthen the company’s end-user computing product portfolio and help partners make the switch to the mobile cloud. The company’s one-two punch of both the new vSphere 6 solution and its UEM acquisition indicate that VMware is working quickly to address its core market and grow its end-user computing solutions, according to The Register.
Company CEO Pat Gelsinger stressed the importance of the software-defined data center this week during PEX, and outlined VMware’s continued plan to make SDDC solutions the norm throughout the channel. VMware also announced a slew of new product announcements during the show, including the release of vCloud Suite 6.
