Size should no longer be an issue when it comes to the Note. The new Samsung Galaxy Note10 is available in two sizes. The standard Note10 has a 6.3-inch FHD+ display and the new Note10+ comes with a sizable 6.8-inch Quad HD+ display.
The smaller Note10 comes with a 3,500Ah battery, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, while the 10+ has a 4,300mAh battery and is available with 12GB of RAM and either 256GB or 512GB or storage.
While 5G services are still in the formative stages of rollout, it will be at least a year before they become more broadly available. But for those who want to be ready when they are, the Samsung Note10+ is initially available on the Verizon network, based on an exclusive window Samsung announced at its spring Unpacked event in San Francisco. The 5G models will be available through AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile this fall.
The Note’s signature feature, the S Pen, always gets an important new feature with each new version of the device.
Last year, when Samsung launched the Galaxy Note9, users were able to push the button of the S Pen to control the phone from a distance. The new S Pen with the Note10 allows what Samsung describes as Air Actions, which allow users to use certain gestures remotely to access certain features. Samsung also announced that it is opening the Air actions SDK to let developers build their own controls.
The S Pen, which also works with the new Galaxy Book and Galaxy Tab6 (described later in this slideshow), also can convert handwritten notes into digital text and convert into various formats including Microsoft Word.
The smaller Note10 comes has a triple camera with the following lenses: an ultrawide 16MP F2.2, a wide-angle 12MP 2PD AF F1.5/F2.4 and 12MP F2.1 OIS telephoto. The Note10+ has a quad rear camera with the same lenses plus Samsung’s DepthVision VGA camera.
Samsung said its new Live Focus Video enables depth of field and Zoom-in-Mic amplifies audio within the frames and filters out background noise. The company said the editing software performs more accurately with the S Pen.
The camera’s new 3-D scanning capabilities enable augmented reality (AR) rendering. Samsung emphasized a new 3-D overlay capability called AR Doodles, which enables users to draw animation and other effects into the image captures by the new devices.
When Samsung introduced DeX two years ago, the first version was a small docking station that allowed users to dock their phones to the device, which had ports, a keyboard, mouse and displays. Last year, Samsung slimmed down the interface and with the Note10 line, DeX is a USB-C connector that allows users to connect their phones to PCs or Macs and interchange files.
Toward the end of the one-hour Samsung Unpacked fall event, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella joined DJ Koh, president and CEO of Samsung’s IT & mobile communications division, on stage, where the two announced that they are going deeper in their partnership.
Microsoft already sells the Samsung Galaxy and Galaxy Notes in its stores and through its channels, and the two companies have offered tight integration between their respective mobile device management platforms, Samsung Knox and Microsoft Intune. While the companies were circumspect about what that will entail, they did preview Link to Windows, which lets users respond to texts on their Windows PCs, and said they will provide tighter integration with Office features such as OneDrive.
Samsung is taking its relatively simple Galaxy Book laptop line that the company has offered for several years, up a notch with the launch of the new Galaxy Book S. The new system is powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8cx compute platform and offers gigabit LTE connectivity. Its battery offers up to 23 hours of continuous video playback and comes with up to 1TB of expandable storage. It features the Link to Windows capability and integrates Microsoft’s Your Phone app with the Note10. The new Galaxy Book S also works with the Note 10’s S Pen.
The new Galaxy S6 tablet will complement both the Note10 and the new Galaxy Book S with support for the S Pen and DeX connectivity. But the new tablet, powered with Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 855 processor, has a 10.5-inch Super AMOLED display, and some distinct features of its own, such as a new optional Book Cover Keyboard, an S Pen holder and an on-screen fingerprint scanner on the tablet.
Finally, the Samsung is refreshing its smartwatch line with the new Galaxy Watch Active2. Samsung said it has upgraded its rotating bezel with a curved Super AMOLED display and an improved UI that the company claims offers a more natural experience.

Samsung wants channel partners in its Partner Mobility Program to create, or enhance, their mobile solutions practices. The company says its new fall lineup of devices, software and services for commercial customers offer the fullest portfolio yet to provide a broad set of solutions and have deeper integration with Windows PCs and with Office. Channel Futures attended this month’s Samsung Unpacked event in Brooklyn, New York, and had an opportunity to learn about the entire new rollout.
The annual update of the Samsung Galaxy Note took center stage. While Samsung typically launches a new version of the Note – available with different amounts of storage – every year, the company launched three different Galaxy Note10 models in two different sizes. Samsung also launched a 5G-based version of the new Note 10, the Galaxy Tab 6 tablet, a new laptop called Galaxy Mobile, and an update to the Galaxy Watch.
Partners can start selling the entire new lineup for horizontal and vertical industry solutions staring in September. Click through the slideshow above so you can see what we saw at the Unpacked Event.
