8×8 (EGHT) today announced the expansion of its global cloud communications network in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. The cloud-based unified communications (UC) and contact center solutions provider also has partnered with Equinix (EQIX) and Entrust ICT to extend its global reach.

Vik Verma, 8×8’s CEO, said he believes that his company’s global expansion will help it better serve multinational enterprises.

“Building a network that delivers a consistently high quality of service and user experience across the globe is a key initiative for 8×8 and one of the many ways we are committed to supporting our enterprise customers,” he said in a prepared statement.

He added: “With more and more U.S.-based companies expanding their operations internationally to broaden their markets and better serve their customers, having a reliable and secure global cloud communications network that can quickly scale to accommodate growth is of paramount importance.”

8×8’s partnership with Equinix allows the UC and contact center solutions provider to establish a point of presence (PoP) in Equinix’s SY3 facility in Sydney, Australia.

SY3 is the most densely connected data center in Australia and provides the company with access to Equinix’s ecosystem of more than 975 network providers globally, 8×8 said.

“8×8 adds an industry-leading cloud-based unified communications and contact center solution to our portfolio of cloud services,” Equinix Australia Managing Director Jeremy Deutsch said. “With our data center’s proximity to the largest collection of international and regional networks in Australia and trans-oceanic cable stations, 8×8’s Asia-Pacific customers are ensured the highest-quality communications services.”

Meanwhile, 8×8’s partnership with Entrust ICT, a Victoria, Australia-based provider of wholesale communications technologies for systems integrators and service providers, allows 8×8 to offer its Virtual Office Online (VOO) and Virtual Contact Center (VCC) solutions to the Australian market.

Entrust ICT CEO Vincent Kennedy added that he believes 8×8’s solutions will enable his company’s partners to offer “best-of-breed technologies” to their customers for years to come.

8×8 currently supports more than 40,000 businesses worldwide and recently has taken steps to improve its offerings.

For example, 8×8 released a new version of VCC and announced a partnership with social customer service solution provider Conversocial last October, and both of these moves could help the company further extend its global reach as well.
