ADTRAN Claims Market Share of Microwave Radios
April 5, 2006
ADTRAN Inc., a supplier of microwave radios today at CTIA Wireless said it now holds the leading worldwide market share for these products, citing a report by Skylight Research.
According to the 2005 Microwave Radio Point-to-Point Market Share Report, at the fourth quarter of 2005, ADTRAN now holds at least 28 percent of the worldwide market for unlicensed 5GHz and under, up from only 17 percent one year ago. The company said it has been very successful with the wireless carrier market, now that its TRACER products are deployed by all of the Tier 1, and many Tier 2 and Tier 3, U.S. wireless service providers.
ADTRAN has shown impressive growth in the license-free wireless market over the past year, said Emmy Johnson, principal analyst for Sky Light Research. ADTRANs jump to the leading position is a reflection of its focused efforts of capitalizing on the growth in the wireless carrier market and meeting the markets need for license-free wireless solutions with its TRACER family of products.
The TRACER 6000 Series is a modular wireless solution that offers user-configurable TDM and Ethernet functionality in a 1U-chassis. The newly released TRACER 6420 and TRACER 6410 radios allow wireless carriers to maximize distance while using smaller antennas, according to ADTRAN.
