AirWatch Offers Standalone MAM for BYOD

MDM vendor AirWatch announced Wednesday morning standalone mobile application management solution designed to increase administrative flexibility. The new solution aims to provide managed services providers with mobile device management, mobile application management, mobile content management, mobile email management, and bring-your-own-device (BYOD) management. What does AirWatch’s new MAM solution mean for MSPs? We’ll review.

According to the company, the new solution provides IT administrators with more flexibility for BYOD through a combination of flexible mobile management options based on device ownership, role, and security risk level. The new solution enables IT administrators to manage internal, public and purchased apps across employee, corporate or shared devices in organizations. Developers can also manage internally developed apps by using advanced security and management capabilities available through the AirWatch Software Development Kit.

The company supports corporate dedicated or shared devices with full management, personal devices with full management, and now, personal devices with standalone application management. AirWatch says that BYOD empowers organizations to provide users with access to VPN, WiFi, email, contacts, calendar, apps and content. Through the company’s standalone MAM solution, AirWatch customers are being provided with recommended apps in app catalogs.

“AirWatch has a proven track record of industry-leading product innovation, but we’ve also led the market with transparent pricing, flexible deployment options and now a combination of options to meet the evolving trends for BYOD,” said AirWatch President and CEO John Marshall in statement. “Enterprises now have a variety of deployment scenarios, and AirWatch is the first enterprise mobility suite to offer commercial solutions that align with product requirements.”

Last month AirWatch announced a partnership with Siemens Enterprise Communications in the hopes of relieving the stresses of implementing mobile unified communications (UC) and managed mobility solutions.
