This ought to incur much gnashing of teeth over at iPorn: Apple Inc. (AAPL) has approved the first adult-film related iPhone apps and they have nothing to do with iPorn.

Rather, Apple gave the thumbs-up for two apps dedicated to the careers of porn stars Sunny Leone and Aria Giovanni. Apparently the apps don’t have nudity and just serve as a way for fans to keep up with Leone and Giovanni. Leone has a blog, photos and video, for example, as well as a premium upgrade section that sends updates directly to users’ phones. Giovanni’s app is very similar.

We say iPorn must be pretty displeased because it’s been trying to get one of its apps on the iPhone and Apple will have no part of it. iPorn has gone so far as to threaten to storm Apple’s boardroom with scantily clad women.

Maybe Leone and Giovanni used less high-pressure tactics, hmm?

Still, the question remains, how does Apple decide which apps to approve? The processes and results seem arbitrary and companies like iPorn must be wondering the same thing.
