AppSense to Acquire Mobile Security Startup RAPsphere

Desktop virtualization specialist AppSense, has announced it will acquire RAPsphere, a mobile security  specialist, to extend the application of its virtualization technology across mobile devices in the enterprise. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. All the employees Redwood City, Calif.-based RAPsphere will become part of the AppSense team.

The deal marks the first acquisition made by New York-based AppSense, which positions itself as an enabler of BYOD.  This deal bridges the desktop virtualization offered by AppSense to include

Darron Antill, CEO of AppSense explained the connection between the two companies, “There is a critical need to protect corporate applications and data on employee-owned devices. Our business is based on helping our customers build productive enterprise environments. RAPsphere will be an important and strategic acquisition that enables us to advance our user virtualization solutions.
