A memo from AT&T to its employees reportedly pumps up the company’s own products while giving those salespeople a bunch of negative talking points regarding the Palm Pre.

The Dallas Morning News reports that an AT&T spokesperson confirmed the memo is legit, and it’s common for the company to point out differences in products so employees are “ready to answer customers’ questions.”

The memo boasts the Apple iPhone’s patented touch screen and navigation speed, while saying the Pre’s “touchscreen control gestures are not intuitive.” It also rips Palm for its plastic casing that’s only available in black; its “limited free Wi-Fi access”; and lack of a proven app store.

The Pre is expected to launch soon. Let the smartphone wars begin … again.
