Best Buy Offers Microsoft Surface Tablet Buy Back Program

Looking to trade in that Microsoft (MSFT) Surface tablet? Don’t look at Microsoft. But Best Buy (BBY) has instituted a buy back program for Microsoft’s first generation tablets, and those turning in their old tech can get $200 to $350 in store credit that can be applied to another tech purchase. Here are the details.

The Verge first reported Best Buy’s offer on Microsoft’s tablet. The offer is good through Oct. 21, the day before Microsoft ships the next generation of Surface tablets, Surface 2. Apple (AAPL) seems to have also scheduled an event for Oct. 22, which some pundits believe will be the launch of the next generation iPad.

And while Microsoft itself won’t buy back its first generation Surface RT and Surface Pro tablets, it has initiated a competitive buy back program itself, offering to let users trade in their Apple’s iOS devices, iPad and iPhone to move to Windows-based tablets and phones.
