Value-added distributor Westcon Group has teamed up with BlueCat and Fiberlink to create an integrated solution designed to manage and secure mobile devices and applications in the workplace, particularly as the number of personal devices there increase.  Here are the details on the combined solution and its features.

According to Westcon Group, the integrated solution, BYODShield, was designed to combine mobile device management (MDM), network access management and security, mobile application management (MAM), and Westcon's GOLDShield support model. GOLDShield provides pre-sales support, implementation services, post-sales technical support, and assistance with security policies. The combination is intended to shield the network, device, and IT enterprise.

"Westcon is delivering an industry-first — combining our unsurpassed technology expertise and deep vendor portfolio to tackle the challenges of integrating personal devices into the corporate network," said Westcon Group Senior Vice President of North America Lynn Smurthwaite-Murphy in a prepared statement. "Few distributors can claim to unify their vendors to create a platform that permits separate technologies to collaborate – driving enhanced security and quickly resolving mobile device management issues."

Westcon Group said BlueCat has added network security and on-premise virtual appliance delivery to the solution, while Fiberlink delivered enterprise mobility management with a cloud-based delivery mode.

"BYOD is here to stay – and it's changing the way companies do business," said BlueCat Product Management Vice President Brad Micklea in a prepared statement.

Fiberlink CEO Jim Sheward said in a statement that BYODShield enables partners to embrace BYOD, while offering a platform that is fully integrated.

The solution is available for partners immediately. Please visit the Westcon Group website for more details.
