AT&T customers will be able to get their hands on a more durable version of Samsung‘s flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S4, in a little more than a week. The carrier announced a U.S. exclusive on the Galaxy S4 ‘Active’ on Thursday, which it says is "an evolution of the popular [device] designed to withstand the hazards of everyday life."
The S4 Active, which the carrier calls "truly summer-proof," is certified water-resistant and dust-resistant. It also has an Aqua Mode feature that lets you capture photos and videos underwater. Its 5-inch display is made from Gorilla Glass, which is specially built to be tougher and more scratch-resistant.
The rest of the specs are similar to the standard S4: Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean); quad-core processor; 17 hours of talk time; 2GB of RAM; 16GB of built-in storage; Samsung Smart Pause; Air View; and more.
"The Galaxy S 4 Active is a high-performance smartphone with a stylish, protective design to keep up with the demands of everyday life," said Jeff Bradley, senior vice president, devices and developer services, AT&T.
The new phone will be available in stores on June 21. You can pre-order the S4 Active beginning Friday. It will be available in gray and blue, and set you back $200 when you sign up for a new, two-year service agreement.
