Ingram Micro has obtained a VMware master services competency in data center virtualization, bringing its total VMware certifications to more than 145.

VMware master services competencies are designed to help partners demonstrate customer-centric offerings and technical proficiency, with “proven success and expertise in a specialized area of business,” according to Ingram Micro. These competencies also allow partners to differentiate in four specific solution areas: cloud management and automation; data-center virtualization; desktop and mobility; and network virtualization.

Greg Richey, Ingram Micro’s director of training and professional services, tells Channel Partners the new designation demonstrates his company’s commitment to VMware and to “helping organizations accelerate their digital transformations by leveraging validated service competencies and delivery capabilities around advanced VMware technologies.”

“By leveraging these services capabilities, Ingram Micro business partners will be able to enhance the value they bring their customers and attach new services opportunities without adding opex,” he said. “Ingram is currently the only distributor with this designation and this competency differentiates Ingram Micro and its reseller partners by enabling accredited assessment, design and deployment services. VMware has recognized Ingram Micro’s technical acumen and capability, which mitigates risk and enables successful business outcomes for customers.”

Designed to help channel partners be more services-led, competitive and profitable, Ingram Micro professional services and training offer partners access to a team of service professionals, engineers and technicians who educate and train their staff, and ultimately “wear their brand into the field to help them fill gaps in their service capabilities, win more business and exceed customer expectations,” the company said.

VMware is pleased to recognize Ingram Micro for achieving a master services competency in data-center virtualization,” said Shawn Toldo, VMware’s vice president of worldwide solution partners. “This achievement shows customers that partners like Ingram Micro are dedicated, invested and have validated expertise in advanced VMware technologies. We value Ingram Micro as a VMware partner, and appreciate their efforts in achieving this VMware distinction as they work to increase their service delivery capabilities.”

The VMware Partner Network is the framework for collaboration between VMware and its partners, offering a range of benefits, training, certifications and rewards.
