Lenovo Adds to ThinkBook Portfolio, AI to Yoga PCs

Lenovo momentum continues with new ThinkBooks and Yoga laptops.

Lenovo’s ThinkBook sub-brand that targets small and medium-size businesses (SMBs) first rolled out at Lenovo Accelerate in May. Today, the company added to the initial two models, the 13s and 14s, with the introduction of the new ThinkBook 14 and 15 laptops with 10th Gen Intel Core processors that are built for performance and connectivity. Lenovo made the announcements at Lenovo Tech Life in Berlin. 

The ThinkBook 13s and 14s also got some love and are being updated with 10th Gen Intel Core processors.  

Lenovo also added to its line of Premium Yoga PCs with the new 14-inch Yoga C940, a 2-in-1 convertible; a top-of-the-line, 15-inch Lenovo Yoga C940 2-in-1 convertible; the 15-inch Lenovo Yoga S740, as well as a 14-inch option; and a 13-inch Lenovo Yoga C640.

“ThinkBook is not just another laptop lineup. We designed ThinkBook specifically for the new workforce which comprises Gen Z and millennials, with features and design that make it as easy and responsive as a smartphone,” said Eric Yu, senior vice president and general manager, Lenovo SMB segment. “Not just that, ThinkBooks also ensure business-class performance and security needs are met, which frees the SMB IT manager from many hassles.” 

Some ThinkBook features include: 10th Gen Intel Core processors that adjust to the task at hand through AI; PCIeSSD storage and DDR4 memory for heavy workloads boosted by Intel Optane Memory H10 with Solid State Storage; gigabit speed internet connectivity on wired and optional Intel Wi-Fi 6; security that includes one-step unlock and turn-on with a Smart Power Button that has a fingerprint reader built in, and webcam privacy; a hidden USB port; Skype for Business hotkeys; and the ability to charge and connect any USB-C device to a full-function Gen2 USB-C port. 

All of the latest ThinkBook laptops will be available in November. Pricing is as follows: ThinkBook 14 starts at $649; ThinkBook 15 starts at $679; the ThinkBook 13s IML starts at $729 and the ThinkBook 14s IML starts at $749, according to the vendor. 

The latest Premium Yoga PCs are engineered with Intel as part of its innovation program, codenamed Project Athena, and are designed to be among the thinnest, lightest and most intuitive AI-enabled devices with the latest Intel Core processors and Windows 10. 

Introduced on the new 14-inch Yoga C940, a 2-in-1 convertible are exclusive smart features that adapt to users’ performance needs, such as super resolution to upscale video up to FHD 1080p on Windows Media Player, and Q-Control, named for device keys used to toggle modes, that has the potential to dynamically boost a PC’s battery life when its AI-enhanced intelligent cooling mode is enabled. The new device also features Modern Standby, which enables Yoga laptops to perform background tasks, such as receiving emails, while in sleep mode, and instantly wake from sleep mode like a smartphone. 

In select markets, the new Yoga laptops will have smart capabilities through Amazon’s Alexa voice service. The three new Alexa updates coming to its consumer PCs include: lock screen support, updated smart home visuals and multilanguage support. 

The following Yoga devices will be available in North America is in October with pricing as follows: Lenovo Yoga C940 14-inch, $1250; Yoga C940 15-inch, $1710; Yoga S740 15-inch, $1450; Yoga C740 14-inch $870; Yoga C740 15-inch, $900; and the Lenovo Yoga C640 13-inch, $849.
