With the holiday season coming to an end, managed services providers (MSPs) are gearing up for the increasing number of mobile devices that will be brought into the workplace following consumer gifts and spending on mobile devices. Your mobile device management strategies are most effective when your research gets personal. Are you communicating with your clients? Follow these tips.

Understand who your clients are and what they have at their disposal. The holiday season is the perfect time for a holiday inventory:

Poll your clients — Poll your clients to understand their objectives. This is the time to update your database. How many employees do they have? Which devices do they use?

Update goals — If a year has gone by, the goals of your clients may have changed. During the first week of January, invite each of your clients into the office to review short-term goals and long-term goals. Make sure that your MDM strategy is in line with those goals, and if not, adjust accordingly.

Inform clients of the latest news in the industry — Educate your clients. It’s a lot easier to do your job if your clients understand why you’re doing what you’re doing. If anything, put together a slideshow to review the latest trends in 2013. However, do not turn it into a boring physics lecture at your local community college.

Kick off the new year by reaching out to your clients before they reach out to you. Understand what they need and how you can help them reach their goals.
