The latest edition of the BlackBerry Bold, the 9780, is said to be ready for its debut next week on Virgin Mobile Canada  Oct. 21 to be specific.

Research In Motion and Virgin Mobile havent confirmed details, but its expected to run you $149 with a two-year service agreement.  Its considered to be a replacement for the Bold 9700, which is being retired. Other carriers are expected to offer the 9780, including T-Mobile USA which might get its hands on the device Nov. 3 and Rogers and TELUS in Canada.

The most significant update for the new Bold is the operating system; it will run on the brand-new BlackBerry OS 6.0. The phone is also said to feature a 624MHz processor, 512MB RAM, a full QWERTY keyboard, trackpad, 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, a 480×360 resolution non-touch screen and Wi-Fi.  It can connect to GSM/HSPA networks.

If this comes to fruition, that’ll be two significant new devices from Research In Motion in two weeks’ time as it tries to keep losing further market share to Apple’s iOS and Android. The BlackBerry Oxford is reportedly set to debut Oct. 31.
