While much of the conversation at SAP (NYSE: SAP) Sapphire Now has revolved around cloud, big data and the company’s vision for its in-memory computing solution HANA, there was still plenty of buzz around mobility, too. SAP did its part by unveiling SAP Mobile Secure, an enterprise mobility management solution portfolio, that includes device security and app management, app security and management, and content security. SAP also highlighted its new partnership with Mocana. Here’s a look at whats included in SAP Mobile Secure portfolio.

The SAP Mobile Secure portfolio includes the following technology to manage devices, content, and apps:

  • Device security and app management — The cloud edition of SAP Afaria mobile device management solution, a new software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution, aims to manage and secure deployments of mobile devices and apps for any size of company — in the cloud or on-premise — tackling-bring-your-own-device (BYOD) challenges. It combines SaaS and business intelligence (BI). The most recent release of SAP Afaria now includes support for Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) Windows Phone 8;

  • App security and management — The SAP Mobile App Protection solution by Mocana assists with accelerating mobile app security. The app-wrapping technology enables enterprises to quickly secure existing corporate and third-party applications without having to write any code. In addition, SAP Store offers a white-label mobile app distribution storefront, including secure distribution of internally developed and purchased third-party apps; and

  • Content security SAP launched the SAP Mobile Documents solution earlier this year, designed for enterprise deployments. Users can access, view and collaborate on personal and corporate content, in a native mobile app.

SAP Technology Solutions and Mobile Division President Sanjay Poonen said in a statement that the SAP Mobile Secure solution is built into the SAP Mobile Platform. This integration enables developers to develop security when needed.

“SAP Mobile Secure is designed to scale to millions of devices and even support large-scale ‘Internet of Things’ use cases,” he said. “SAP has a strong heritage in security and we are excited to bring our assets and expertise to the mobile market.”

How are partners responding to SAP’s various Sapphire Now announcements? As I walked around the showroom floor, I overheard a few partners describing SAP’s HANA push as heavy, which may be true. Its Mobile Secure portfolio, however, didn’t need to be pushed quite so hard.
