Siemens Introduces WayMAX@vantage Wireless Portfolio
April 5, 2006
Siemens Communications Inc. at CTIA Wireless today announced the U.S. availability of its Siemens WayMAX@vantage wireless portfolio, which will allow network operators to deliver triple-play services over wide areas.
The WiMAX Forum-certified access solution includes base stations, interoperability with products from three major CPE chipset vendors and outdoor-mounted CPE, as well as monitoring and control systems.
As the FCC gears up to auction 90MHz of advanced wireless services spectrum to commercial operators, Siemens said its lineup is being introduced at the right time.
“WayMAX@vantage radio technology is beneficial wherever laying cable is impractical or non-economical, said Harald Braun, president of Siemens networks division. This makes the WayMAX@vantage solution a useful complementary technology to digital subscriber line services and the Universal Mobile Telecommunications System.”
The solution’s Wireless Integration Platform includes portals for authentication, subscriber management and back-end services. The Siemens WayMAX@vantage supports applications such as last-mile broadband connections, wireless DSL services, VoIP, hotspot and cellular backhaul, and high-speed enterprise connectivity for small, midsized and home-based businesses.
The WayMAX@vantage also adapts to a range of frequency channels, from 1.75MHz to 14MHz. The product portfolio includes a modular multistandard base station based on GERAN and UTRAN.
