Sprint Names Boost Exec President of 4G

Sprint-Nextel Corp. has named Matt Carter, 48, as president of 4G, to oversee the company’s continuing roll-out of fourth-generation broadband wireless services. The appointment will be effective January 11, when Carter moves from his current role as vice president of Sprint Prepaid.
Carter’s current Boost Mobile leadership team will report directly to Dan Schulman, president of prepaid.
“Matt Carter has led Boost Mobile prepaid service to unprecedented growth in the last year, and he has the executive and marketing skills to maximize Sprint’s industry leadership in 4G,” said Sprint CEO Dan Hesse, in a statement.
Carter joined Sprint in 2006 as senior vice president for base management, before taking the position at Boost in 2008. Previously, he served as senior vice president of marketing at PNC Financial Services Group and CMO for Leap Wireless International. Carter also held marketing positions at BellSouth Corporation, the Coca-Cola Co., Bristol Meyers Co. and Raytheon Co.
He serves on the board of directors of Inbrics Company Ltd, and holds a BS degree in radio, TV and film from Northwestern University, and an MBA degree in business administration from Harvard Business School.
