Canadian telecommunications company TELUS has partnered with AirWatch by VMware (VMW) and Vox Mobile to bring customers a new mobile offering designed specifically to ensure secure management of enterprise mobile networks. With its MDM Made Easy solution, TELUS hopes to combine technology and services from AirWatch and Vox to develop a turnkey mobile device management solution to allow businesses to manage their mobile devices through a cloud-based portal.
MDM Made Easy enables businesses to deploy an MDM solution for their enterprise and employee-owned devices without having to invest in a traditional infrastructure, according to TELUS. Since MDM Made Easy is a cloud-based solution, no on-premise hardware is needed to set up the network, allowing pre-configured users to enroll, configure and update their devices manually without the need for IT intervention.
“AirWatch, TELUS and Vox Mobile have come together to enable Canadian businesses to drive transformation across their organization through mobile,” said John Marshall, senior vice president and general manager, AirWatch by VMware, in a statement. “By leveraging AirWatch’s best-in-class platform and TELUS’ coast-to-coast network, TELUS MDM Made Easy helps businesses quickly deploy a leading solution that combines connectivity, security, service, simplicity and value.”
According to TELUS, MDM Made Easy was designed with customization in mind, so enterprise customers can configure the network in whichever way fits their individual business. All business customers will receive a complimentary basic package for their TELUS devices, with the option of adding additional security features such as secure email, application-scanning and file-sharing later on. MDM Made Easy is compatible with all major mobile OS platforms and is available through multiple carriers. Businesses looking to manage non-TELUS devices, however, will need to purchase separate licenses.
With MDM Made Easy, TELUS is hoping to simplify the mobile landscape for Canadian businesses and reduce the amount of individual tasks designated to IT departments. If successful, the company believes the solution will eliminate some of the complexity surrounding the setup, management and daily operation of mobile devices brought about by the BYOD era.
“The collaboration of our three organizations to create a unique offering continues to point to the ability of mobility to transform business. We’re extremely excited to continue our partnerships with TELUS and AirWatch in bringing this new solution to the market,” said Kris Snyder, CEO of Vox Mobile.
