Verizon's HTC Trophy Release Date Emerges

The smartphone Verizon Wireless' first Microsoft Windows Phone 7 device will be available online before the end of the month. And the highly anticipated Sony Ericsson Xperia Play is expected to debut the same day.

HTC Trophy, the first Windows Phone 7 device to come to Verizon Wireless, will be available for sale soon.

The smartphone a device that lets you play games with Xbox Live will be available online at www.verizonwireless.com on May 26 and in Verizons stores on June 2.

The HTC Trophy is available for $149.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a new two-year customer agreement. Customers must subscribe to a Nationwide Talk plan and smartphone data package.  

Among the smartphones features, customers can stream or download millions of songs with a Zune Pass subscription and access more than 15,000 applications and games in the Windows Phone Marketplace.

Verizon Wireless, the nations largest wireless operator with 88 million retail customers, said customers who purchase the HTC Trophy before July 15 will receive a free Xbox 360 console game.

On May 26, at least one other highly anticipated smartphone will be coming to Verizon Wireless the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, according to several media reports. Citing Sony, the Los Angeles Times said the device will be available for pre-orders on May 19.

Running on a modified version of Googles Android Gingerbread operating system, the phone is the first PlayStation certified smartphone,” allowing owners to download games through Android Marketplace and Verizons V Cast app store, according to the report.

The Xperia Play will sell for $199.99 with a two-year contract and comes preloaded with seven games, including Madden NFL 11 and Bruce Lee Dragon Warrior.

Gartner Research recently predicted that the Android operating system would maintain its market-share lead for the next several years, with the Windows Phone 7 platform surpassing Apple’ iOS to take second place by 2015.
