Verizon Wireless Confirms Droid 2 Release

Verizon Wireless acknowledged whats been floating out there for a few weeks now the highly anticipated follow-up to the original Droid smartphone, the Droid 2 from Motorola, will go on sale Wednesday via the Verizon Wireless website. If you can wait a day, you can get one from a Verizon Wireless retail outlet on Aug. 12.

DROID 2 is not only a continuation of our commitment to Android but offers customers the features and form-factor they crave on the Verizon Wireless network.”
Droid 2 will no doubt be praised for its super-slim design. It also features speech-to-text in put and a virtual multi-touch keyboard for quick messaging. The screen is 3.7 inches and the phone includes a 5-megapixel camera as well as DVD-quality video capture.
Apps can be downloaded from the Android market, which, while no Apple App Store, has increased its number of applications to 70,000. The Droid 2 comes with 8GB or preloaded memory that is expandable to 32GB.
