A pair of smartphones are finally getting upgraded to version 6 of the BlackBerry operating system on the Verizon Wireless network.

PCMag is reporting that updates started rolling out Tuesday night for the Curve 3G and the Bold 9650. BlackBerry 6 has been available on other phones on other networks for a while now. It debuted with AT&T on the Torch when it launched last summer. Bold 9650 owners on Sprints network got their hands on it in December. The Bold 9780 on T-Mobile also has it, so this is one area where Verizons been a bit behind the proverbial 8-ball.

But users will undoubtedly be excited for the upgrade, despite the wait. RIM promises better, faster Web surfing; an optimized touchscreen experience; more consolidated social-network and RSS-feed viewing; improved multimedia support; and more camera and music options.
