Verizon Wireless on Thursday will introduce the Motorola XOOM tablet, the first device to run on Googles new Android 3.0 Honeycomb operating system.

In a press release today, Verizon Wireless said customers who sign a two-year contract can acquire the device for $599.99, or the XOOM is available for $799.99 without a contract.

Basking Ridge, N.J.-based Verizon Wireless said it will provide 1 GB of wireless 3G data services on the XOOM for $20 per month. The device will be upgradeable to 4G LTE at no additional charge in the second quarter.

The XOOM features a 1 GHz dual-core processor, 10.1-inch widescreen HD display, front facing 2-megapixel camera for video chats and a real-facing 5-megapixel camera that captures video in 720p HD.
