XO Communications has launched a unified communications (UC) suite for its Hosted PBX (HPBX) service that is designed to increase user productivity regardless of location.

The Herndon, Virginia-based telecommunications provider also noted that its HPBX service now automatically includes the WorkTime mobile Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) application.

“In today’s highly mobile business economy, enterprises need their employees to be able to collaborate anytime, anywhere using high-quality voice, data, video and other apps on company-provided and personal devices,” Jake Heinz, XO’s senior vice president of marketing and product, said in a prepared statement. “The XO HPBX features are designed to meet the collaboration needs of businesses of all sizes.”

XO said its HPBX service’s new UC features can make it easier for workers to communicate and collaborate via multiple devices, including:

  • Desk phones.

  • Desktop computers.

  • Laptops.

  • Smartphones.

  • Tablets.

Additionally, XO pointed out that employees can use its HPBX service to extend their phone numbers to personal smartphones and computers while keeping work and personal information separate.

Infonetics has predicted that the UC services market could be worth $12 billion by 2018, and XO’s new UC suite could help this telecommunications company extend its market reach, too.

An XO spokesperson told Talkin’ Cloud that XO is targeting the UC services market going forward and “continuing to invest resources to ensure our customers have access to the best solutions.”

The spokesperson also noted that XO is already working on future UC service enhancements that are expected to be deployed later this year.
