Aruba Networks continues to make moves to address the proliferation of mobile devices in the workplace. This time, the company has made VIA, the Virtual Intranet Access Application, available as a downloadable app for Apple users. Features and details follow …

Available now in the iTunes Store, Aruba Network’s VIA app has been designed specifically to access network infrastructure, even when you’re away from work. According to the release:

[VIA has a] Wi-Fi-aware VPN application [that] enables seamless security on both public and private wireless networks. VIA builds on Aruba’s Remote Networking portfolio, which offers automatic configuration of wireless device settings, requiring zero-touch for the end-user.

Aruba Networks decided to build the VIA app after the company saw an influx in demand of mobile infrastructure management as well as a need for an application that properly and securely provides VPN access. VIA’s features include location and device-based policies, diagnostic information and “military-grade Suite B cryptography” when using the ArubaOS cryptography add-on.

If you’re looking for a deep dive into what else the app can do for you, check out Aruba Network’s landing page for the application. For the channel, chalk this up to yet another confirmation that MDM solutions can’t come soon enough, especially as consumerization of IT moves from an evolving trend to a way of business.
