Channel Futures recently reported that Eric Torres, longtime director of channel development for Datto, had departed the tech giant. Now we’ve learned that he is bound for ScalePad in a newly created role of vice president of channel. In his new role, Torres will boost MSP growth, success, and maturity advancements by highlighting ScalePad’s proprietary data-backed insights. This will all be while further developing and strengthening industry ties.
“We’re excited Eric has joined ScalePad in large part because of what it means for our partners. His deep industry knowledge and expertise gained from both growing an MSP himself and channel development with one of our top integration partners will prove invaluable,” said Dan Wensley, CEO, ScalePad. “Eric is a man on a mission, helping and empowering our Partners to succeed.”
Datto’s Eric Torres
With more than 15 years’ experience in the technology industry, Torres brings a passion for educating the business community on the ever-changing cybersecurity threat landscape. For almost a decade, Torres helped build River Run, a top-tier MSP in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he was also a Datto advisory board member. Prior to joining ScalePad, Torres served as Datto’s director of channel development for North America.
Goals for MSP Growth
In terms of his goals for the role – both short and long(ish) term – Torres has several.
“Short-term goal is to build a partnership with MSPs where they can rely on, and have confidence in, a vendor that provides the best solution and technology in their stack,” Torres told Channel Futures. “Long-term goal is to continue to evangelize how ScalePad can simultaneously improve the technology experience of businesses across the globe, while adding to the managed service provider’s bottom line. Everything is built on relationships and it’s my role to continue to foster long lasting ones.”
Previous Role with Datto
How will Torres’ previous role with Datto translate over to, and/or boost this new one?
“Without a doubt, I learned from one of the best in Rob Rae,” said Torres. “He single-handedly built one of the best teams in the channel. Now it’s time to take what I’ve learned, and add to it. This industry is built on evolving trends, technology and experience. I was fortunate enough to have that experience and plan on evolving it to something very special here at ScalePad.”
The Promise of a New Position
What excites Torres most about the new position and the future that it holds?
“I’m excited about the opportunity and fire,” said Torres. “There is a noticeable buzz amongst the ScalePad team, and myself for that matter, and we’re working on the next evolution of what MSPs can do to take things to the next level. My goal is to bring this to the community and build even more lifelong relationships. I’m beyond thrilled with the opportunity to join another rocket ship, with unlimited potential and can’t wait to share how ScalePad can help the community.”
Kaseya earlier this week said it is buying Datto, Torres’ former employer for $6.2 billion.
