Dallas-based Matrix Telecom Inc. announced this week it is entering into the wholesale voice transport business. To execute on the initiative, the company has hired Shaun T. Moore as director of wholesale business development.

In this newly created position, Moore is responsible for the rollout of market-ready, lower-cost wholesale voice transport services to telecommunications firms, such as ISPs, CLECs, switchless resellers, wireless, cable, and calling card providers as well as high-volume call centers. Moore reports to Matrix CEO Charles G. “Chuck” Taylor Jr.

“We see a tremendous, new opportunity in the telco marketplace to address cost-of-goods challenges and fill service voids for competitive providers in what has become an increasingly costly, unfriendly, even confrontational climate,” said Taylor in a press statement. “Competitive choice is critical to our customers and their end-users to protect their bottom lines. Shaun’s skills are known throughout the telco industry. He brings the experience we need to make ourselves a fresh, viable choice for providers who have had enough.” A 15-year veteran of the telecom industry, Moore has held various executive and management positions with the original WilTel (Worldcom), Pacific Gateway Exchange and Global Crossing. Most recently, he was vice president of sales and marketing for wholesale long-distance provider ANI Networks. He also founded technology consulting and communications services agency 3AD Technologies Inc., specializing in multilocation IP phone system and service sales as well as wholesale communications consulting and Web development. He holds bachelor’s degrees in history and art history from Sonoma State University, California.

Matrix Telecom, a Platinum Equity LLC company, operates as Matrix Business Technologies and Trinsic, Powered by Matrix. It is licensed as a facilities-based CLEC and long distance provider in 49 states and the District of Columbia.

Platinum Equity also owns Americatel, Covad Communications and DCA Services.
