PlanetOne is upping its cloud play with the hiring of an eight-year Rackspace veteran.
PlanetOne’s Tyler Kee
Tyler Kee now works for the master agent as a cloud solutions architect. The Arizona-based company says he’ll provide an interface for partners and suppliers as they go deeper into cloud technology.
He most recently served as a partner-sales specialist for Rackspace’s Microsoft Platform and Collaboration business unit. He wore multiple hats with the company over the years, including business-development associate and account executive. He started working with Rackspace in 2010 after graduating from college the year prior. He recently contributed to an article on our website about Google’s HTTPS deadline.
PlanetOne founder and CEO Ted Schuman credited Kee for his technical knowledge.
He spoke during Wednesday’s leg of PlanetOne’s Tech Tour in Laguna Beach, California.

“The expansion and promotion of the PlanetOne team mirrors the explosive growth we continue to see in our business and the business of our partners and providers,” Schuman said. “We are thrilled to have Tyler on board, and look forward to leveraging his expertise in architecting and implementing cloud services to drive success for our providers and partners.”
PlanetOne also announced two promotions Wednesday. Jake Schuman – Ted’s son – now is director of sales for strategic accounts. He worked at Cbeyond and Windstream before joining PlanetOne to lead the company’s Southern California office. The company says he played an important role in building its MSP practice.
Ross Thompson, the newly appointed director of sales for the Americas, has worked for PlanetOne since 2011. His previous position was national channel manager.
Ted Schuman called both promotions well deserved.
“Together with the entire PlanetOne team, we are breaking new records in 2018 and expect another phenomenal year in 2019,” he said. “One of the things we strive for here at PlanetOne is to do the common things uncommonly well, and I can always count on Jake and Ross to raise the bar for excellence with their knowledge of sales and technical know-how around SD-WAN, cloud and other new and emerging connectivity technologies and solutions.”
