Value-added distributor ScanSource Inc. on Tuesday said it has named Rich Long as its new vice president of marketing.

Long returns to the company after some time away; he worked for ScanSource for more than seven years in North America and Europe. He is coming back after serving as head of channels for the Americas for Ethernet switch-maker Extreme Networks. Long also has worked for Arrow Electronics in product management.

In his new role, Long will lead the North America marketing team for all four of ScanSource’s business units, helping to create and act on channel marketing and communications strategies. He brings more than 15 years of IT channel experience to his new job.

That background will add “significant value to our partners’ channel marketing strategies,” said Scott Benbenek, president of worldwide operations for ScanSource, in a press release.
