Tech Data Corp.‘s Joe Quaglia now is president, the Americas, filling the spot vacated by Murray Wright in early August.

The distributor promoted Quaglia, effective today, from senior vice president of U.S. marketing and president of TDMobility. Quaglia’s predecessor, Wright, left Tech Data to become CEO of technology solutions provider Zones Inc.

In his new role, Quaglia leads Tech Data’s sales, marketing, logistics and purchasing operations throughout the United States, Canada and Latin America. He’ll oversee strategic initiatives as well.

“Joe has a true passion for winning and is committed to Tech Data’s culture and the success of our people,” said Bob Dutkowsky, CEO of Tech Data. “I am confident that he will continue to strengthen Tech Data’s position as a trusted partner for our vendors and solution providers in the Americas.”

Quaglia joined Tech Data in 2006 as vice president, East, and government sales. He has worked in the IT industry for 25 years, including a 10-year stint with CA Technologies and senior positions at StorageNetworks Inc. and Atabok.
